Volunteers

To contact us about volunteering, please fill out our online volunteer interest form.

Volunteers are extremely important to what we do. Without you, the work with our youth would not be possible. No experience is necessary, and we will provide training for you. Requirements to volunteer are:

  • Have a positive attitude when working with youth
  • Attend the required training
  • Fill out a volunteer application form
  • Be interviewed by our staff, and possibly have a criminal background check done
  • Be comfortable with the ministry side of what we do. Prayer and spiritual development will be an aspect of what we do. Not all volunteers need to participate in this, but you should be comfortable with others praying and working with the youth in this way.

Coaches

The coach is the core organizer and director of a team. To be a successful coach, you should be committed to the proposition that the most important result of your job is whether your players have a great time and learn. The mark of a great coach is somone who can lose all games, and yet every player has a blast! Coaches are needed for all ages, and in particular we need female coaches for girls teams. No experience necessary. We provide all training.

Referees

Good referees are critical to the success of game day. A good referee has a kind, positive demeanor, and teaches while also calling a game. No experience is necessary and we provide all training. Experienced referees have an opportunity to be paid for their work too.

Team Mentors

Team mentors are also vital to the success of the league. We would like to be more than just a sports league. We would like to be a family building, character building and faith building organization. The team mentor will be the encourager of the kids, the organizer of the parents, and will provide information flow between the kids, parents, and the staff. A good team manager is someone who is friendly, likes to organize parties, and is willing to be generally helpful. Mentors will be encouraged to pray with players and parents, identify needs, and work with staff to get extra resources to those who need it. A Mentor can be an individual, a couple, or an entire family. No experience is necessary, just a positive attitude.

Coordinators

Coordinators are needed at a variety of levels. Currently, we are looking for two types of coordinators - Program directors and age group coordinators.

Program directors take responsibility for an entire sport, like recreational soccer, basketball, wrestling, etc. If you are excited about a particular sport and would like to form a sports ministry in the Ravenswood area around that sport, we can help you.

Age group coordinators help organize coaches and referees for a particular age group in a particular sport. They make sure everyone knows what to do and when to do it. When questionss come up on the field or on the court, they make the decisions to keep things running. A good age group coordinator works well with people, and is a good communicator.

Special Projects

We have a variety of one-time and weekend volunteer opportunities that would be perfect for fellowship groups, service groups, or individuals with some extra time:

  • Build small practice goals out of PVC pipes (we can provide plans)
  • Run weekly contests to add to the fun of the league (juggling contest, dribbling contest, shooting contest, etc.)
  • Help with one-time events, like opening day, player registration events, family field day, tournament day, etc.
  • Be a field greeter, similar to a greeter at church, to welcome people and provide information

Paid Positions

Depending on your experience and qualifications, youi may be eligible for a paid position as a coach, referee, or administrator.
