Referee Coordinator

About RYAA

RYAA is a faith-based youth sports organization that seeks to develop the character, families, and faith of the communities of East Palo Alto and east Menlo Park. We do that by creating programs that allow children to learn and play a sport, while also learning about the Bible, faith in God, and good character. The key to the program is you, a caring adult that is willing to dedicate time and impart wisdom to the youth of our community.

Description

The Referee Coordinator is responsible for the following:

• Scheduling referees for games
• Recruiting, training and mentoring new referees
• Helping to solve referee disputes
• Educating coaches and parents on the importance of treating the referees well

To help you be successful, we will provide you with:

• Training materials for the referees,
• Referee equipment,
• The direct support of the Executive Director,
• Communication systems for communicating with referees, coaches, players and parents.
  

Requirements

The things you need to be the Referee Coordinator in RYAA are:

• Experience as a soccer referee
• A positive attitude when working with parents, coaches and children.
• Communication and organization skills.
  

Commitment

Estimated Weekly Time Commitment: 4 hours

The fall soccer season begins in late August and ends the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Games are on Saturdays and last between 45 and 90 minutes, depending on the age. You will work with the Executive Director to make the referee schedule each week and communicate it to the RYAA organization. Some time should be spent each Saturday in mentoring and evaluating referees.
