Field Manager

About RYAA

RYAA is a faith-based youth sports organization that seeks to develop the character, families, and faith of the communities of East Palo Alto and east Menlo Park. We do that by creating programs that allow children to learn and play a sport, while also learning about the Bible, faith in God, and good character. The key to the program is you, a caring adult that is willing to dedicate time and impart wisdom to the youth of our community.

Description

The Field Manager is responsible for making sure the fields and field equipment are ready each Saturday for game day. This generally involves the following:

  • Making sure fields are lined before games start
  • Monitoring field maintenance , and making adjustments to watering or mowing.
  • Communicating with school district or city personnel as required.
  • Gophers are controlled
  • Equipment repairs are done

The responsibilities do not have to all be done yourself. There are a number of people available to help, including other volunteers, teams and players who need to work in exchange for playing fees. To help you be successful, we will provide you with:

  • Communication systems for communicating with referees, coaches, players and other volunteers.
  • Maintenance and marking equipment.
  • Training on field marking equipment and field maintenance.

Requirements

The things you need to be the Field Coordinator in RYAA are:

  • Availability during weekday evenings or Sundays to do field maintenance.
  • Communication and organization skills.
  • Experience with sprinkler systems are helpful, but not required.

Commitment

Estimated Weekly Time Commitment: 2 hours

The fall soccer season begins in late August and ends the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Games are on Saturdays and last all day. Games will be held on the following sites:

  • Cesar Chavez school
  • Green Oaks school
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Park

Each field will have its own unique maintenance challenges. Most fields will need to be lined using spray paint machines

Your time will be flexible, with the goal of completing field maintenance before 9 am each Saturday.
