Coach Coordinator

About RYAA

RYAA is a faith-based youth sports organization that seeks to develop the character, families, and faith of the communities of East Palo Alto and east Menlo Park. We do that by creating programs that allow children to learn and play a sport, while also learning about the Bible, faith in God, and good character. The key to the program is you, a caring adult that is willing to dedicate time and impart wisdom to the youth of our community.

Description

The Coach Coordinator is responsible for the following:

  • Recruiting Division Coordinators. These generally come from the coaches in a particular age group.
  • Working with the age-group coordinators to get coaches to recruit team managers.
  • Helping with the communication between the coaches, Divison Coordinators, and the rest of the organization.
  • Resolve disputes with Coaches
  • Monitor coaches to make sure they are cooperating with the goals and principles of the RYAA.

To help you be successful, we will provide you with:

  • The direct support of the Executive Director,
  • Communication systems for communicating with referees, coaches, players and parents.
  • Training and materials in soccer coaching, as well as Positive Coach Alliance training.

Requirements

The things you need to be the Coach Coordinator in RYAA are:

  • Experience as a soccer coach
  • A positive attitude when working with parents, coaches and children.
  • Communication and organization skills.

Commitment

Estimated Weekly Time Commitment: 2 - 4 hours

The fall soccer season begins in late August and ends the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Games are on Saturdays and last between 45 and 90 minutes, depending on the age. Age groups that have coaches are divided into the following age divisions, with separate boy and girl divisions for each age group:

  • 6-7
  • 9-8
  • 10-11
  • 12-15

Each division will have a Divison Coordinator, for a total of 8 coordinators. Your time will be very flexible, but should be spent in communication and encouragement of the Division Coordinators, as well as improving the coaching techniques and abilities of the organization over all.
