Free Bankruptcy Clinics - Community Legal Services

Dear Friends;
For those not familiar with our agency, Community Legal Services in East Palo Alto (CLSEPA) is non-profit legal services agency whose mission is to provide free and low-cost legal services to low-income and under-served individuals and families in East Palo Alto, eastern Menlo Park, and the surrounding areas. Our practice areas are limited to civil law, and include housing (landlord/tenant), immigration, anti-predatory lending and general civil legal matters through our Volunteer Attorney Program (VAP).
We have a small staff, but with the assistance of an array of pro bono partners, we endeavor to provide individualized consultation, representation and community education as resources permit.
In addition to our "regular" practice areas, CLSEPA periodically endeavors to provide additional services through the use of experienced attorneys in the community. Presently, I am writing to inform you of several upcoming free Bankruptcy Advice Clinics. The clinics will be hosted by an experienced bankruptcy attorney who will provide basic information to attendees regarding bankruptcy, including issues such as dischargeable debt, non-dischargeable debt, exemptions, secured creditors and debtor's rights. The attorney will NOT represent individuals in bankruptcy pro bono, but will be providing an overview of bankruptcy options at this advice session.

The upcoming clinics will be held in our office, at 2117 University Avenue, on the following dates:
March 24, 2009   5 – 7pm (limited space available)
April 7, 2009   5 – 7pm
April 21, 2009   5 – 7pm
May 5, 2009    5 – 7pm
May 19, 2009, 5 – 7pm
June 2, 2009, 5 – 7pm

Each clinic will be limited to 8 attendees. Attendees will be scheduled on a first-come first-serve basis. Interested attendees should call 650-326-6440 to reserve a space.

Please do not hesitate to contact me or Jon Frohnmayer if you have any questions or require any additional information. Our a
pologies if you are receiving this information twice.

Thank you,
Candice
