Dear Friends of the
Mural Music & Arts Project (MMAP),
Please join our 2010 TeenMural Assistants (TMAs) as they unveil their Leadership Mural Series at the MMAP Headquarters at 2043 Euclid Avenue, East Palo Alto, CA 94105, On Friday August 27th at 5:30PM.
The Mural Music & Arts Project is a youth development organization and employment opportunity with a mission to educate, empower and inspire teens through the arts. This summer, MMAP hired 30 teens from East Palo Alto and the surrounding community to research, design and unveil amural series on our theme,Leadership. Because of the depth of their research and the enthusiasm around the topic, teens brainstormed over 100 ideas for imagery and have decided to paint five murals touching on five areas ofleadership:Civic Engagement / Political Participation, Education, Technology, Economic Empowerment / Legal Services, and Environmental Responsibility.
The students will also be writing and recording original hip-hop music based on these themes. We will be highlighting our students' creativity throughout the process on our MMAP Blog:
