About East Palo Alto Academy:
The primary mission of East Palo Alto Academy (EPAA) is to create a seamless, high-quality educational opportunity for students living in East Palo Alto and eastern Menlo Park. The school prepares its students with the knowledge, intellectual strategies, skills, and habits of mind for lifelong success in terms of higher education, meaningful employment, and participation in a 21st century civic and global society. EPAA serves as a site of professional development for teachers working in Ravenswood City Schools, as well as students enrolled in the Stanford Teacher Education Program, a nationally recognized teacher certification program at Stanford University School of Education. In addition, expert researchers and practitioners at EPAA are committed to developing and assessing innovative approaches to teaching and learning to contribute to meaningful improvement in K-12 education in this country.

East Palo Alto Academy Elementary School

opened in 2006 with 150 students in three inaugural grades, and will expand each year to eventually enroll students in all grade levels from kindergarten through eighth grade. The school's goal is for every child to be proficient in literacy and mathematics by the end of third grade, and for eighth-grade graduates to be readied for a rigorous high school program and college planning. Ultimately, the elementary school will serve 450 students.

East Palo Alto Academy High School opened in 2001 and serves approximately 300 students, grades 9-12, from East Palo Alto and eastern Menlo Park. The school, which graduated its fourth class in 2008, was designed to prepare students for college and the 21st-century world and workplace. EPAA High's highly qualified teachers support students in mastering the standards necessary for academic achievement and college admittance. All students take college preparatory courses as well as college courses offered by Cañada College and Stanford University. More than 90 percent of the school's graduating seniors were admitted to postsecondary institutions last year.
